Welcome! Jolley Hatters Morris is a performing Morris side, based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. We are a Cotswold side, however some Border and North-West dances are also included in our repertoire. We regularly dance at festivals and events around Tassie, including:
- Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens Spring Festival
- Evandale Village Fair & National Penny Farthing Championships
- Cygnet Folk Festival
- Wooden Boat Festival (including Hobart Tall Ships Festival)
- Moonah Taste of the World Festival
- Huon Valley Mid Winter Festival
And many more! Our upcoming events can be found in the Calendar.
In 2014 we were part of the inaugural Huon Valley Mid Winter Fest, performing a wassailing of the apple trees at Willie Smith’s Apple Shed. In 2015 and again in 2016 the festival was bigger and better, and we had a great time dancing again! The planning for 2017 is already underway to be bigger and more exciting than previous years. This is an invitation for all morris dancers and musos to come on down to Tas for the festival. Apart from a weekend of awesome excitement, the Winterfest are offering all morris dancers and musos free (basic) accommodation in Huonville, free cider all weekend and a free pass to MONA (its worth organising to stay over in Hobart a day longer to avail yourself of this). In exchange you will be expected to spend the weekend dancing, playing, participating in the spectacular ceremonial events, and generally behaving in a festive manner. If you want more info, please get in touch with us. We’d love to see you there!
If you’d like to book us to perform at your next event, just Contact us, and we’ll be in touch. Our facebook page is updated regularly with news, photos, videos and details of upcoming events, so please do join us there. New dancers and musicians are always welcomed, and all dances are taught at practice. Contact us for more information, or come along to a practice here!
