About Us
Jolley Hatters Morris was established in 1987 and is a performing Morris side, based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.
We are a Cotswold side with the Adderbury tradition at our core. We also do dances with nautical themes by the Derwent in our summer kit, and wear Tatters coats and dance Border tradition during winter.
The side dances 9 other Morris traditions, although not all of them recently. These are: Bampton, Bledington, Bucknell, Enysham, Lichfield, Molly, Field Town, Upton and North-West.

Some fun facts:
- Our oldest member is 94 years old.
- In 2025 an average of 11.9 people attended practice.
- We only dance to live music, even if we can’t hear them over the din of a rowdy festival.
- Following the world-wide Morris tradition, every year on May 1st we dance up the sun atop Mount Wellington, regardless of the weather. Yes, it can be rather cold, windy, foggy, snowy, wet and slippery at times! On a couple of rare occasions we’ve had to stop at The Springs due to road closures. Members of our side have been doing this since the late ’80s. Everyone who braves the mountain gets a badge to commemorate the accomplishment, and you’re welcome to join us!

Some of the events we’ve attended in the past include:
- Huon Valley Mid Winter Festival
- Dark Mofo / Winter Feast
- Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens Spring Festival
- Cygnet Folk Festival
- Evandale Village Fair & National Penny Farthing Championships
- Wooden Boat Festival (including Hobart Tall Ships Festival)
- Moonah Taste of the World Festival
- Derwent Valley Autumn Festival
- Regular dance outs at Mawson Place, Mount Nelson Signal Station, Bellerive Boardwalk
- National Morris Ales
